Content Template

“X” is your actual job title. For example, Data Analyst, Full Stack Developer, SEO Specialist, DevOps Engineer.

The blog post consists of three sections: (1) A background in “X”, (2) A day in the life of “X” and (3) A career in “X” and the future.

 1. A background in “X”
  • What drew you to the world of “X”?
  • How did you get into “X”? (bachelors or masters degree?, special course in “X”, natural career progression?, a manager suggested you?, leap of faith?)
  • In your words, what do “X” do?
  • What are the hard and soft skills “X” needs to excel?
  • What do you like about being a/an “X”?
2. A day in the life of a/an “X”
  • Can you walk us through a typical day at work?
  • What are the responsibilities of “X”?
  • Give an example of an actual work/project you have worked on. Briefly describe the problem and how you solved it. (e.g: database migration, seo optimization, code debugging, product update release, etc)
  • Do you often meet with other stakeholders or departments to discuss the work at hand?
  • What is the structure of your team and what key role do you play?
  • What are the tools and softwares do you use as a/an “X”?
  • What aspect about “X” do you like the most? What is daunting?
3. Having a career in “X” and what the future holds:
  • Where can you see “X” heading in the future?
  • Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
  • What does career progression in data analytics look like?
  • What impact do you want your skill to have on the world?

“A Day In The Life” series of our blog is where students and career changing professionals come to learn about the day in a life of a particular job profile. The goal is to help them gain insights to help them in their career decision making process.

Guidelines:

Posts on the MakeMeaning website are helpful, not self-promotional. No jargon or corporate speak. Keep it interesting and conversational.

Tone of voice: MakeMeaning’s blog tone of voice is Simple, Friendly and Conversational. Keep it simple. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. 

Requirements:

The following are required material for the Make Meaning blog. 

  • Word Count: 800 (min) – Please don’t limit your blog post based on this number. Most of our blog posts range from 800 – 2800 words.
Format for sharing:
  • Share a Google doc link or email a PDF doc. 
Links:
  • Link to other content whenever relevant. Every link included must add value for readers.
Paragraph length:
  • Keep paragraphs short. No longer than 4 lines.
Author bio:
  • Author bio should be 50 words max.
  • Include your headshot (350×350).
  • Link to your LinkedIn and company.
